About the Role
This full-time position is a unique chance for a motivated HR Advisor to have a real impact in a growing and fast-paced business. You’ll deliver end-to-end HR support across multiple worksites, working directly with operational leaders and teams to ensure our people practices scale alongside our projects.
The role is based in Derrimut and will require frequent travel to Ballarat.
Key Responsibilities
As part of a national business on the rise, you’ll play a central role in shaping our people systems and supporting leaders across our workforce.
- Lead and coordinate end-to-end recruitment and selection – including job design, advertising, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding
- Partner with managers to navigate complex employee relations and performance matters,
including preparing for and participating in challenging conversations to ensure fair, timely, and constructive outcomes
- Coach and support supervisors and team leaders on staff development, performance management, and day-to-day HR queries
- Plan and oversee talent management activities, including onboarding, probation reviews, development planning, and workforce planning
- Maintain and refine HR policies, templates, and procedures to keep pace with business growth, legal obligations, and operational needs
- Identify and implement improvements to HR processes and systems that support scalability and efficiency as the business expands
- Support employee engagement and cultural initiatives, helping teams feel connected, valued, and aligned with company values
- Be a visible and approachable HR presence, working closely with operational teams—not just from behind a desk—to provide real-time, practical HR support
What We’re Looking For
We’re after a confident, capable HR professional who understands the pace and demands of a construction blue-collar environment. You’ll be someone who takes initiative, builds trust quickly, and brings a practical, solution-focused approach to everything you do.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience in an HR Advisor or generalist HR role, ideally in construction, civil, logistics, or related sectors
- Strong understanding of Industrial Relations including NES, Fair Work legislation, EA /Award interpretation, and compliance frameworks
- Confidence to operate with autonomy, while knowing when to collaborate or escalate
- The ability to have robust conversations and communicate with influence.
- An aptitude for systems improvement and change management.
- A hands-on, outcomes-driven approach—you’re responsive, grounded, and focused on what works in the field
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach, advise, and influence across levels
- Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt as the business continues to grow
- Desirable:
- Return to work / WorkCover knowledge and experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing, construction, transport / logistics and other heavy industry environments will be highly regarded.
- Understanding of the Psychosocial Risk Compliance Framework.
