Imtrade CropScience is a privately-owned chemical formulator and supplier specialising in crop protection products. We operate from a custom-built facility at Kwinana Beach in Western Australia and supply a comprehensive range of products via our national network of sales and distribution centres.

The chemical technical officer is critical in day-to-day operations though also contributes to the future growth of the business through the management of manufacturing and allied functions including product and manufacturing method development. To this end we seek to appoint a tertiary qualified chemist. Experience in a production or analysis workplace with hazardous materials and dangerous goods is essential. The successful candidate will have a can-do attitude and will embrace dirty, uncomfortable manual work with a can-do attitude. Imtrade CropScience is willing to support the right person in development of the necessary skills.

The Role:

Raw materials, intermediates and pesticide product manufacturing, administration and general handling including chemical receipt, selection, blending, filling, packing, cleaning and basic maintenance activities.

Pesticide product development, sampling and physical and instrumental testing of a range of raw materials, process streams, crop protection products and treated agricultural produce

Inspection,



calibration and associated administrative tasks to set timeframes and standards in the upkeep of various management systems (GLP, LIMs, OHS)

Record keeping for batch manufacturing traceability

Report writing in support of projects and regulatory submissions

Ancillary support activities

Mandatory Requirements:

Completion of tertiary qualifications (bachelor’s degree) in chemistry

Willingness to perform strenuous, dirty, repetitive manual work – shirkers and spotless-lab-coat types need not apply

Ability to balance proactivity and imagination with the requirement to work collaboratively, responsibly and intelligently

A committed approach to OHS and quality management frameworks

Previous experience with hazardous substances and dangerous goods

Excellent communication skills

Ideal Qualities:

Flexibility and self-drive

Exposure to heavy industries

Laboratory experience (basic wet chemistry, GLC, HPLC, FTIR, particle sizer, etc.)
