Eligibility / Identified position
This is an identified position for Barada Barna people. Consistent with the South Walker Creek Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) and our commitments to strengthen cultural authority and local engagement, being a Barada Barna Traditional Owner is a genuine occupational requirement under the Anti‑Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) s25 / s105. Therefore, applications are invited from Barada Barna people. Confirmation of heritage may be requested, handled respectfully and in confidence.
About Your New Role
This role supports the effective implementation of the South Walker Creek (SWC) Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) between Stanmore and the Barada Barna Aboriginal Corporation (BBAC) in line with the Project Agreement. The position is based at our South Walker Creek mine site on a 5:2 roster.
- Build and maintain strong relationships between Stanmore, BBAC and its native title holders, along with other Traditional Owner groups in the local area
- Support recruitment, work‑readiness, retention, inclusion and development within the workforce
- Provide personalised on‑the‑job support, including mentoring,
coaching, support planning and case management
- Support the South Walker Creek Indigenous Trainee program facilitating reviews, tracking training plans and providing updates to relevant stakeholders
- Identify and promote development opportunities across the business
- Coordinate cultural events at site and in the community to build local engagement, awareness and understanding across the team
- Support online and face‑to‑face Cultural Awareness Training activities at SWC
- Participate in SWC ILUA Relationship Committee meetings
- Contribute to the development and execution of Stanmore’s Reconciliation Action Plan
- Establish and maintain links with relevant Indigenous support agencies
Qualifications & Experience
What we would love to see in you to make this a success…
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
- Cooperative working style with the ability to build mutually beneficial relationships across functions while working within a small team.
- Commitment to making a positive difference to the health and safety of others.
- Experience working with Indigenous people and Traditional Owners, ideally including Barada Barna community engagement.
- Experience in the resources sector with relevant inductions (Standard 11, Coal Board Medical) preferred.
