As Sports Coordinator, you will lead community sport, fitness, and wellbeing initiatives that promote youth engagement, physical activity, and community cohesion. You’ll manage Palm Island’s gym and sporting programs, develop partnerships with peak sporting bodies, and coordinate high-quality sporting environments through effective facility oversight and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily gym operations ensuring safety and cultural respect.
- Deliver inclusive sport, fitness, and wellbeing programs for all age groups.
- Plan coaching clinics, competitions, and community activation events.
- Engage youth through sport initiatives that foster leadership and healthy lifestyles.
- Build partnerships with sporting bodies (NRL, Basketball QLD, Netball QLD, AFL QLD, etc.).
- Maintain sporting grounds, courts, and facilities to a high standard.
- Coordinate events, budgets, and reporting for community sport programs.
What We’re Looking For
- Certificate IV in Fitness (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid Queensland Working with Children Blue Card.
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications.
- Experience in sport, gym, or community program coordination.
- Cultural capability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Strong organisational and event planning skills.
- Current Queensland “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
Desirable: Experience in remote/regional community sport delivery, Coaching or officiating qualifications and Experience engaging with national/state sporting bodies.
