The role
In this role you’ll use your sound process control, chemical and mechanical know how to ensure the continued safe, effective and efficient operations of our wastewater treatment facilities. We use industry leading systems with multiple barrier approaches to ensure we meet environmental and public health guidelines.
You’ll have an enthusiasm and passion for public and environmental health as you’ll directly contribute to your community by the wastewater services we provide. Your can do attitude and attention to detail will see you thrive as you work in and maintain our wastewater treatment facilities and adopt an innovative approach when solving operational problems.
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated experience in the safe operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities.
- Willingness to adopt new technology or processes to solve operational problems.
- Ability to work safely and effectively even when alone and unsupervised.
- Well-developed communication skills using written, verbal, numerical and graphical techniques.
- Ability to utilise complex and critical problem-solving techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a safety focused team.
- Ability to work on a rotating on-call roster.
- Demonstrated computer literacy.
We know we are asking a lot for this operational role and we also know that fully qualified Wastewater Treatment Technicians are hard to come by, but if you feel you don’t have all this right now, that’s fine by us, as we will give the right person the support to get there. Key Selection Criteria
- Sound operational skills and knowledge gained by a number of years of experience, particularly related to domestic wastewater treatment plants.
- Demonstrated understanding of legislative requirements (EPA License and GED, SEPP) applicable to wastewater treatment plants and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and contribute as part of a team towards the successful completion of goals.
- Ability to communicate effectively using written, verbal, numerical and graphical communication techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to use self-motivation and self-discipline to manage time effectively when working alone and unsupervised.
- Demonstrated sound decision making, especially in high-pressure environments.
