Job Opportunity with Brooklyn Ferry Service
Location - Brooklyn, NSW 2083 (Hawkesbury River)
Brooklyn Ferry Service requires a Ferry Master to be trained in the day to day operation of our ferries.
Applicants must hold a minimum of Coxswain Grade 1 qualification.
Australian citizenship is required for this position.
The company operates 2 x 12m timber heritage vessels (displacement hulls, single screw propulsion), under contract to Transport NSW.
The position being offered will result in regular permanent part time / full time work 30 hours + weekly.
Work Hours: 5:30am through to 1pm, or 1pm through to 8:30pm (we operate on a 2 shift regular monthly roster, including weekend work)
Renumeration: Based on Ports and Harbours Award MA00052, Superannuation and penalty rates apply.
Duties: All our vessels are single handed operation, tasks / duties include Skippering vessel, Making rapid at wharves and Passenger relations.
All Candidates will be vetted on site by one of our Masters as to their skill set and abilities, prior to and during introductory training.
Candidates must have a minimum of 1-2 years commercial vessel experience.
We are seeking applicants with solid skills in both vessel handling (timber displacement hulls, single screw propulsion) and rope / line handling.
Successful candidates must undergo a Working With Children Check, Police Crime Check and Drug and Alcohol screening prior to employment, which form part of the requisite staffing conditions under our contract with Transport for NSW to operate a public ferry service.
