A fun and engaging opportunity has arisen for a flexible Communications & Events Officer for a part-time role supporting CyberWest Hub, WA’s Cyber Security Innovation Hub.

CyberWest Hub is Western Australia’s central force for advancing cybersecurity. We are committed to strengthening the state’s cyber industry, developing a future-ready workforce, and raising cyber awareness across all sectors of the economy. Co-funded through the WA Government’s New Industries Fund, Edith Cowan University and City of Joondalup. The hub is co-located in the Joondalup Innovation Hub with the ECU Security Research Institute, ECU Securing Digital Futures theme leader, and ECU Defence Research at ECU's Joondalup campus.

About the Opportunity
CyberWest Hub is seeking a dynamic and creative Communications and Events Officer to join our team. As the Communications and Events Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the strategic objectives of CyberWest Hub, a leading initiative in Western Australia's cyber security industry. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that shape the future of cyber security in the region.

The role will be responsible for a variety of tasks including maintaining social media channels, website content, ministerial correspondence,



planning and administration support of events from community events to hackathons, and general communications support.

About you
You’re a communications professional with an interest in Cyber Security and protecting the community in WA

You excel at building strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
You love playing with social media, and testing different methods for engagement
You’re a clever writer, with experience writing for multiple audiences and channels
You enjoy hosting and planning events.
You can manage competing initiatives and deadlines
You’re exceptionally well organised and task-oriented
You have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as marketing and/or communications

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Courage and Personal Excellence.

This part time, fixed term position attracts a salary of $84,470 - $93,865 pa (paid on a pro-rata basis) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.



This is a flexible, part-time position of 2.5-3 days a week based at the ECU Joondalup campus, with some travel to deliver events within metro and regional WA. Some work outside normal business hours to deliver events will be required.
