About Lakes & Ocean Hotel Forster

Lakes & Ocean Hotel Forster is a celebrated Mid-North Coast institution, known for its vibrant atmosphere, premium dining experience, and stunning location overlooking Wallis Lake. We are seeking passionate, dedicated, and skilled individuals to expand our culinary team.

The Role: Casual Chef / Experienced Cook

We are currently seeking passionate and skilled Casual Chefs and/or Experienced Cooks to support our Head Chef and Sous Chef in evolving our modern bistro menu. This menu focuses on fresh, seasonal, and quality ingredients, celebrating coastal flavours and pub classics.

- Position: Casual Chef and/or Experienced Cook

- Employment Terms: Paid hourly under the Hospitality Industry (General) Award (HIGA), with all applicable penalty rates.

- We are open to discuss full time roles.

- HIGA Industry rate relavant experience & qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Candidates must be experienced and proficient, or willing to quickly become proficient, in various sections of a busy bistro kitchen, including:

- Grill & Pans: Executing dishes to a high standard of quality and consistency.

- Fryer & Burger: Maintaining speed and quality control during peak service.

- Larder & Prep:



Focusing on efficiency and maintaining our high standards of food hygiene.

- Mentoring junior team members and maintaining a positive, qualified kitchen environment.

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for self-motivated and focused individuals who possess:

- Proven kitchen experience (as a Chef or Cook) in a high-volume environment.

- A positive, productive, and calm demeanour under pressure.

- Exceptional communication, organizational skills, and neat personal presentation.

- A strong desire to develop both their own skills and contribute to the team's growth.

- Respect for the profession, ingredients, the team, and our guests.

- Current and valid Australian working rights.
