The Liberation Clinic

Miranda

- Multiple positions available, incl provisional, mid-career, and senior listed on our website.

Are you ready to pass on your passion, to support the next generation of provisional psychologists, clinical psychology registrars, and early career clinicians?

Highlights of the Role

- Support the next generation with a teaching and supervision component to complement your clinical role
- ED work is so rewarding! See clients from start to end of treatment, and witness huge improvements in quality of life
- Work in a supportive, collaborative, highly experienced multidisciplinary team.
- Choose to just work with EDs, or diversify your caseload in line with your interests
- Flexibility with days, hours, and clinic V hybrid.

About You

We’re looking for a registered or clinical psychologist, who is experienced in supporting those with eating disorders, and shares our desire to contribute towards building workforce capacity (which is so needed in our area of work!). You value social connection at work, and you’re excited to have dedicated space in your diary to support and share your knowledge with eager early-career clinicians, clients, families, and our community.

Being a small, nimble private practice, there’s huge potential to develop your role in line with your interests. We welcome the knowledge and skill that you’ve built over your career (and value lived experience), and can’t wait to have your input into the services we offer!

Our Values

Liberation Clinic is a specialist eating disorder clinic in the Sutherland Shire. We are proudly HAES aligned, and value ‘compassionate and collaborative’ client care. Our culture strongly reflects this, with regular dedicated time each week to share insights about the clients you’ll be sharing with our passionate non-diet team, consisting of three senior dietitians and one (very experienced) psychologist.

Our vision at Liberation Clinic is to work towards bridging the huge gaps that exist between levels of care, developing and offering targeted additional outpatient services to shorten the treatment path, and promote more resilient recovery for our clients. Our 12 month plan involves continuing to build our psychology team, and looking forward we will be bringing on Medical team members, along with additional supports like trauma informed yoga, to provide a holistic service where all providers are on the same page.

The Role and Benefits

Much of your day will be spent providing your expert clinical services to clients and families. We believe in pro-active burnout prevention, and our full-time caseload equates to 24 billable hours per week, with your supervision of junior staff counting towards your caseload targets, and expected to increase over time as our team grows. We are protective of our clinical team’s calendars, with fixed case discussion meetings and permanent admin breaks every day after lunch, to prioritise collaboration with your team, external colleagues, and referrers, and give your brain time to refresh!

This role offers you a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor, and help us with interviewing, onboarding,

and supporting the dream team who will help us bring our vision to life!

When you join us, you’ll be welcomed into our team of passionate clinicians, and encouraged and supported to grow with the practice. Even though you're an experienced clinician, we believe learning never stops, and will support you to continue building your skills with a generous CPD budget and 2 days (FTE) study leave. Of course, this is in addition to the day to day support from being surrounded by other clinicians with extensive training and many years of supervised experience in eating disorder work. We continue to learn so much from each other, and strongly value new perspectives and ideas.

We offer:

- Freedom to exercise your own sound clinical judgement that private practice offers
- Security of employment, with paid admin time. We don’t want you to take work home with you!
- A supportive, friendly multi-disciplinary team, to grow with and debrief with
- A focus on your professional development, and personalised CPD plan
- Variety in your role, with the option of running groups, meal support, or service development for example
- Pro-Active administration support, who are happy to take tasks off your hands!
- Beautiful, private rooms, 2mins walk from Miranda Westfield, and directly across from Miranda train station.
- Flexibility to choose the work option that suits you best, whether in the clinic every working day, or a hybrid model

Role Diversity- Bring your unique skills!

Do you also have specific skills or a love of treating conditions other than eating disorders? If you also love seeing clients for support with complementary issues, like trauma, OCD, family therapy, paediatrics, or neurodivergence and assessments, we'd love to support you to do the work you love!

In eating disorder work, it's rare that the ED is someone's only mental health concern, so we very much value team members who can provide support with the spectrum of conditions affecting our clients. We'll be very happy to promote your unique combination of skills, and help you add diversity to an already-diverse role.

Package and Benefits

We offer above-award pay based on degree of relevant experience, career progression options, plus:

- Generous supervision and CPD allowances in addition to your salary,
- 2 days’ paid study leave (FTE)
- Internal peer supervision and case discussion at least fortnightly

Although we prefer to offer positions on an employment basis, as this suits the additional collaboration required in eating disorder work and nature of the role in providing support to colleagues, we may consider a contracting agreement for the right clinician.

Availability

Hours and days per week are negotiable,

and there is plenty of flexibility to work around other employment or family commitments, etc. Designating a portion of hours as remote work is also negotiable. As we mentioned above, because our top priority is finding clinicians who share our values, we’re happy for you to work in the way that suits you best, whether at the clinic every day, a hybrid of clinic and WFH.

While we have hired remote staff previously and strongly believe in the effectiveness of telehealth, we are currently looking for someone who can work in-house at the Miranda clinic for most of their work hours, due to overwhelming client (and student!) demand for face to face options. We may hire another fully-remote staff member down the track though!

Requirements- the 'Need to Have's':

- Sufficient training and experience to be able to practice safely and confidently with all main eating disorder presentations.
- Must have current AHPRA registration, and be eligible for Medicare provider status as a Registered or Clinical Psychologist, with own public liability and qualified indemnity insurances, or willing to obtain.

More about you- the 'Nice to Have's':

- You're fiercly non-diet, like us! You can demonstrate your understanding of how to integrate non-diet concepts with eating disorder treatment, provide a weight-inclusive service, and respectfully advocate for clients with their other treatment providers via phone/ written reports.
- You’re able to supervise staff in at least one evidence based eating disorder treatment modality, eg FbT, CBT-E.
- We are hoping to find a Board-Accredited Supervisor, in order to directly support students/ provisionals/ registrars. However we will consider an experienced clinician who would like to obtain their board-accredited supervisor status.
- You're willing to work with teen and adult clients, and their families/ carers where relevant.
- You can demonstrate commitment to your own professional development in HAES/ non-diet and eating disorder related topics. (Please list relevant & recent training completed, if applicable).
- If wishing to work part of your hours remotely, you have your own laptop, mobile phone, and reliable internet access to use. You're welcome to work all days in the Miranda clinic if preferred.
- You have a current working with children check, police check, or you're willing to obtain this.
