About the role
The City is thrilled to announce that we are expanding our Apprenticeship Program we’re now recruiting three new Horticultural Apprentices to join our dynamic Parks and Environment team!
As an apprentice, you’ll be part of a passionate crew dedicated to creating and maintaining beautiful parks, vibrant streetscapes, and thriving landscapes across the City. Reporting to the Supervisors of Passive Spaces, you’ll gain hands-on experience in all aspects of park maintenance while learning the ropes both on the job and in a formal classroom setting.

In this role, you will undertake duties such as:

Turf mowing using different types of plant and equipment

Minor turf maintenance including fertilising, top dressing and turfing

Weed control, both manual removal and minor herbicide usage





Maintain a safe, clean and tidy working environment

Attend all TAFE lectures and meet assignment deadlines
Skills & Experience
Applicants will be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in amenity horticulture, completion of Year 10, 11 or 12 with acceptable results, demonstrate the ability to identify major plant families, understand small motor and plant operation, as well as be able to provide a current satisfactory National Police Clearance. The right applicant for the role will have sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills, good hands-on technical aptitude and literacy and numeracy skills. They will enjoy working in a team setting; have a good aptitude for learning and an excellent work ethic.

$913.42 - $1,352.07 per week

3-Year, Full-Time Apprenticeship
