Description

As the Principal Engineer for Financial Systems, you will guide the technical evolution of our clients core finance platforms. This is a hands-on architectural leadership position, ideal for someone who wants to remain deeply technical while influencing engineering direction. You will own the financial systems domain end-to-end, from designing future-state architectures to overseeing delivery quality across internal developers and contractor teams. A significant focus will be the gradual replacement of their legacy SQL-based Base Plan ERP, requiring strong SQL expertise and experience navigating complex, long-standing systems. You will work across multiple payment gateways, financial tools (e.g., Blackline, e-ways), identity solutions, and event-driven integration patterns. You will collaborate closely with the GM of Engineering & Innovation, product leaders, program managers, and senior stakeholders to ensure technical decisions align with business outcomes.



This role is perfect for a senior engineer who loves solving complex problems, mentoring others technically, and setting engineering standards.

Profile

• 15+ years software engineering experience with a strong hands-on background
• Expert-level skills in .NET, C#, Azure, and advanced SQL
• Proven delivery of complex financial or payments systems
• Robust understanding of event modelling and event-driven architectures
• Ability to modernise legacy environments and design scalable, cloud-native solutions
• Excellent communication skills to work closely with business analysts and senior stakeholders
• Experience guiding teams technically (standards, pull requests, solution design)
• Experience integrating payment gateways and financial reconciliation platforms
