Backup & Recovery Engineer (Melbourne)

We are seeking a Backup & Recovery Engineer to lead a critical transition project, bringing backup and recovery services in-house. You’ll manage the migration end-to-end, optimise systems for performance and reliability, and ensure our data protection strategy is robust.

Key Responsibilities:

- Transition management: gather documentation, train internal teams
- Backup & recovery operations: configure tools, monitor jobs, troubleshoot issues
- Disaster recovery: maintain and test plans regularly
- Performance optimization: improve processes, reduce costs
- Compliance: ensure adherence to data protection standards

Must-Have Skills:

- Australian Citizen with NV1 or Baseline Clearance
- Hands-on experience with enterprise backup systems
- Solid knowledge of Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, Commvault
- Experience across physical, virtual, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure)

Preferred Skills:

- Disaster recovery planning and testing
- Storage technologies (tape, SAN, NAS, cloud)
- Scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
- Database and application-level backups (SQL, Oracle, VMware)
