Join the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions as a permanent, full‑time Manager of Fire Policy and Planning. This role is based in Kensington and supports the Fire Management Services Branch.

Pay Range

$139,860.00 / yr – $149,485.00 / yr (PSCA, Level 7) plus 12% superannuation. Pay is based on skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the fire policy and strategic fire planning functions, including legal matters, corporate correspondence and input into reviews and enquiries.
- Manage corporate and annual reporting to government of fire data on behalf of the branch.
- Coordinate delivery of key programs such as the enhanced prescribed burn program and lead contact for issues and reviews with the Office of Bushfire Risk Management.
- Lead others to drive positive change, aligned with DBCA Leadership Expectations.

Selection Criteria

- Extensive knowledge and experience in formulating, implementing and evaluating policy to improve operational delivery of complex stakeholder services; strong knowledge of fire management processes.
- Highly developed interpersonal and oral communication skills, including negotiation with community organisations, government agencies and industry stakeholders.
- Experience in financial management and advanced use of computer software (Word, Excel) for report writing, data analysis and data management.
- Substantial experience managing and leading teams, setting direction, driving change, achieving outcomes and resolving conflict.
