What You'll Do
Acquire, analyze and format spatial Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data used to create and maintain a range of TomTom Mapping and Traffic products.
Evaluate spatial data in a variety of GIS software (ArcPro, QGIS, FME etc), to determine the quality and feature types for meeting business requirements.
Develop and maintain working relationships with existing and potential providers/partners as well as local authorities
Have a basic knowledge of local mapping regulations and have industry related connections.
Continue to build knowledge of the company, processes, and customers.
This role is to be a country sourcing and local intelligence specialist for Japan with expertise in the local language, geographical know-how, mapping regulations, local legislation knowledge and positive industry connections
What You'll Need
University degree in geography, cartography,
geomatics or geoinformatics, or
2+ years of relevant GIS, sourcing acquisition and data handling experiences.
Have a valid driver’s license, to participate in product test drives
Knowledge of known and common GIS software.
Language skills: Proficient in Japanese and English (both written and verbal)
Robust interpersonal and communication skills that allow successful negotiations with our partners and networking.
Support and understand map quality for a given country/countries.
Knowledge of geographic source data handling and data licenses.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Works independently with minimal guidance, based in Sydney.
