Postgraduate Fellow - Emergency
Location: Calvary Mater Newcastle (Hunter Recent England, NSW)
About the Role
Provision and documentation of secure, effective, and appropriate patient‑centered medical care in a team‑based workplace.
Work on a 7‑day a week/24‑hr roster, including ability to work nights and take charge of the department.
Senior Medical Officer in‑charge of the department, including night shift; admitting officer duties.
Coordinate and oversee deployment of resources within the department in conjunction with the nurse‑in‑charge to ensure patients are seen promptly.
Notify the on‑call ED consultant of staffing problems during the shift; additional staff called only with consultant authorization.
Communicate effectively with patients, carers and members of the multi‑disciplinary team.
Qualifications
MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority.
Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or suitable overseas specialist qualification in Emergency Medicine,
or final year of training towards fellowship.
Demonstrated ability to provide high‑quality, compassionate medical care.
Experience or knowledge of programs for improving the organisation and delivery of care in Emergency Medicine.
Evidence of immunisation as required for the role.
Successful completion of pre‑employment checks including reference checks, work rights, criminal history check and WWCC checks.
