WADAC (Women’s Alcohol & Drug Advisory Centre) Inc. t/a Jarrah House is a NFP organisation operating in Sydney’s South East. Jarrah House is a women’s (women and children) only residential drug and alcohol detox and rehabilitation service where women can bring their children while completing the 10‑week programme that Jarrah House offers. Children are also treated.

Recognised by the United Nations for the work we do, Jarrah House is the only treatment facility of its kind in NSW and is a statewide service. We have a highly skilled team which includes a Clinical Director, Nurses, Drug & Alcohol Counsellors, Childcare Workers, Social Workers, Psychologists and visiting Doctors.

Jarrah House has been operating since 1987 and as an NFP we rely on Government funding and volunteers. We are a women’s service only, run operationally by women for women.

Position Description

WADAC are looking for a volunteer to join our board with a variety of skills with a focus area of financial management as the treasurer. Key skills you would bring to the board are in the areas of financial, business and organisational management. Other areas that are relevant include HR and governance.





You would be joining an existing board of agile members with a variety of skills who are looking to bolster the capability of the board to deliver quality services in drug and alcohol rehabilitation and look to potential opportunities for service expansion. The role would require approximately five hours per month and your skills may be required intermittently. You would be required to attend board meetings which are held every 2 months from 6.30pm at Jarrah House, Little Bay. Board meetings usually run for approximately two hours. Knowledge of the NFP sector would be preferable but not essential.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria will be based firstly on your experience in the areas of financial and business management with demonstrated skills in the following areas:
