We're working with a civil engineering contractor to recruit a Plant Operations Lead . This role is ideal for someone with excellent organisational skills and a proven ability to coordinate people, equipment, and processes in a rapid-paced environment.
You'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of internal and external plant hire operations, ensuring transparent planning, productive utilisation of assets, and smooth collaboration across teams. Supporting the Plant Manager, you'll play a key part in driving operational improvements, supporting compliance, and managing both internal and external supply arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinating daily plant hire operations, minimising downtime and duplication
Monitoring utilisation,
investigating losses / damages, and driving improvements
Supporting compliance, toolbox talks, and departmental communications
Line managing stores and hire teams, with oversight of fleet / workshop functions when needed
Developing supplier agreements and supporting stock control for better cost efficiency
What we're looking for
Strong coordination and organisational skills with a practical approach
Background in plant hire, logistics, or fleet operations (desirable but not essential)
Experience managing or supporting operational teams
Proficiency with MS Office and business / asset systems
Full UK driving licence (essential)
