What’s the job?

The Accessibility Advisor plays a vital role in strengthening access, participation and success for students with disability across Think Colleges, Torrens University Australia and our collective Torrens Global Education (TGE) community. Using the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) definition of disability, this role supports students with a broad range of physical, neurological, psychological, psychiatric and ongoing medical conditions.

You will develop and deliver tailored learning supports that enable students to fully engage in university life, providing professional case management, coordinating adjustments, and advising on policy and legislative requirements related to anti-discrimination. The role also leads awareness initiatives across the university and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to enhance accessibility and participation. Reporting to the Director of Learning Services, you will be an active contributor to the Learning Services team and help shape a uniquely supportive TGE student experience.

Principal accountabilities are (but not limited to):

- Contribute to an environment that enhances the dignified and successful participation of students with a disability:

- Promote opportunities across the business to increase the recruitment, participation, retention and success of students with disabilities and/or medical conditions

- Maintain a client case load and coordinate the implementation of accessible adjustments for students through a process of collaborative needs assessment,



planning, information sharing and the provision of services

- Implement systems which support and empower students with disability through advocacy and professional support in relation to academic requirements

- Coordinate the provision of study support to students, including direct support staff and appropriate technology and adaptive equipment

- Support prospective students with disability in their transition to University

- Attend external events, Open Days and Information Sessions as required

- Make a positive influence on the orientation and transition program for students, ensuring that TGE is explicit in its commitment to students with disability.

Who you are:

- Knowledge of and commitment to anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation, particularly as it applies to people with disabilities (preferred)

- Demonstrated understanding of the rights of people with a disability undertaking vocational and/or higher education in a service delivery context (preferred)

- Robust interpersonal skills including excellent relationship management and customer service skills and the demonstrated ability to engage with and communicate effectively and professionally with people with a disability

- Demonstrated ability to assess and understand the complexity of issues experienced by people with a disability (preferred)

This is a permanent full-time position with hybrid flexibility allowing you to work from a campus near you and from home.
