About the Role
The College of Science and Engineering is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Lecturer in Applied Mathematics (Data Science and Machine Learning) to drive excellence in teaching and learning across our computing and mathematical sciences topics. With a strong focus on applied mathematics, data science, machine learning, and engineering mathematics, this position plays a pivotal role in shaping engaging, future‑focused learning experiences that support student success.
As a Teaching Specialist (Academic), you will:
- Deliver richly interactive and personalised learning experiences.
- Champion educational innovation, advanced learning technologies, and learning analytics.
- Participate in curriculum design, review and renewal, ensuring topics are contemporary, engaging and aligned with student needs.
About You
You are an innovative, student‑centred educator with expertise in applied mathematics, data science, machine learning or a closely related field. You have strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to support diverse learners and work effectively with colleagues, industry and professional communities. You will also bring:
- A PhD or EdD (or equivalent) in applied mathematics, data science, machine learning or a related discipline, with demonstrated excellence in tertiary teaching across these areas.
- Experience delivering contemporary, high‑quality learning, including online asynchronous teaching, effective assessment design, and the use of learning technologies.
- Experience in continuum modelling and statistics, with expertise in first‑year topics and interdisciplinary teaching.
- Tertiary qualifications in Education (desirable).
