? About the Role
As a Diesel Mechanic Assistant at Shamick Transport, you’ll play a key role in keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and road-ready. Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare parts and materials for jobs (welding, cutting, grinding, measuring etc)
- Conducting scheduled maintenance, inspections, and roadworthy checks
- Assisting our lead tradespeople in the workshop
- Maintaining workshop equipment, tools, and a clean, safe work environment
- Recording service details, parts used, and time allocations in our job management system
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and company policies
✅ What We’re Looking For
- Experience in the trailer/heavy-vehicle industry (desirable)
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools (grinders, drills, ratchets, welders etc)
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team to high productivity and safety standards
- Based in Victoria (Melbourne region)
- Full right to work in Australia
