Agency Security Advisor (PO6) Security Management

As the Agency Security Advisor, you will lead key elements of QFD’s protective security governance, shaping frameworks, policies, and risk-based practices that keep our people, information, and assets secure.

Working within the Governance, Risk, and Compliance Branch, you will partner with senior leaders, operational personnel, and cross-agency security networks to strengthen QFD’s compliance with the Queensland Protective Security Framework (QPSF) and uplift the organisation’s security maturity.

Responsibilities

- Lead the development, delivery, and improvement of QFD’s protective security policies, plans, and governance systems.
- Provide strategic advice on QPSF compliance, security risks, and organisational assurance.
- Support the Agency Security Executive (Chief Security Officer) with risk-based recommendations and executive briefing products.
- Coordinate protective security initiatives across internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare high-quality security reports, briefs, and submissions.
- Promote a culture of secure, risk-aware decision-making across QFD.

What you’ll bring

- Experience in protective security, security governance, intelligence,



or risk management, ideally in government or emergency services.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence across teams, leadership, and cross-agency partners.
- Excellent written communication skills, including complex security briefs, governance documents, and executive reports.
- Sound judgement, discretion, and resilience when navigating sensitive or high-risk matters.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in security, intelligence, risk, and/or policy development.
- Possession or eligibility to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
