The Opportunity
We’re seeking a motivated and innovative qualified to join our Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) team. This dual call offers an opportunity to be appointed at either the PO2 Engineer or ASO5 Officer level, depending on your qualifications and experience.

You’ll contribute to the planning and delivery of smart transport initiatives that improve how South Australia moves. Working with a range of stakeholders across government and industry, you’ll help apply technology and data-driven solutions to make our transport network safer and more efficient.

About You
PO2 – Intelligent Transport Systems Engineer
You’re a technically skilled and analytical professional who enjoys applying engineering principles to real-world transport challenges. You bring experience in the design, development or implementation of Intelligent Transport Systems or related technologies, and you use data, innovation, and sound judgment to deliver practical solutions.

Working under broad direction,



you take ownership of complex tasks—from system planning and technical assessments to project delivery—while mentoring others and ensuring quality outcomes. You value collaboration, continuous improvement, and using technology to make transport systems safer, smarter and more efficient.

ASO5 – Intelligent Transport Systems Officer
You’re an organised and proactive team player with a strong focus on coordination, problem-solving and stakeholder support. You thrive in a dynamic environment, assisting with the planning and implementation of ITS projects and initiatives that improve transport operations.

You bring excellent communication and analytical skills, working under limited direction to manage priorities, prepare reports and contribute to project outcomes. Your ability to understand customer needs, build relationships and follow through on commitments ensures reliable and professional service delivery every time.

Educational Qualifications/Licences

PO2

- Minimum degree level qualification in Engineering, eligible for Membership in Engineers Australia.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.

ASO5

- Current Australian driver’s licence.

Special Conditions

- A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
- A Working with Children Check (WWCC)



is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, which must be renewed every five years before expiry.
- Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointment up 12 months

Remuneration

- PO2 - $88,255 to $97,667 pa + superannuation.
- ASO5 - $85,790 to $95,413 pa + superannuation.
