Your Role as Senior Mental Health Clinician
The Senior Mental Health Clinician is an experienced practitioner who provides clinical care co-ordination and delivers intervention to young people experiencing complex social and emotional wellbeing challenges as a part of a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) which aligns with the strategic goals of Mental Health Services, Community Allied Health and Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ).
The Senior Mental Health Clinician will provide contemporary youth-focused, youth-friendly mental health services including:
- Assessment of customer mental health needs and formulation of relevant therapeutic plans
- Delivery of both individual counselling and group programs
- Provide clinical care coordination for a caseload of young people, including liaison with stakeholders, provision of case management and appropriate and timely referrals
- Delivery of high-quality evidence-based intervention and advice ensuring family-inclusive practice which ensures the voice, choice and active involvement of young people, and their family, friends and support networks are heard and supported
- Regular review of treatment plans and goals
What We’re Looking For
- Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Mental Health Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Counselling or Mental Health Nursing.
- Current registration with relevant skilled body
- Mental Health Accreditation for Social Workers and Occupational Therapists or evidence of actively working towards same
- Demonstrated ability and experience in the provision of counselling and case management of young people presenting with a varied physical and mental health issues.
- Demonstrated ability and proficiency in the timely receipting, appropriate documenting and accurate record keeping into computerised programs.
- Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills particularly in establishing and maintaining rapport with staff, young people and their families and carers.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a multi-disciplinary team member.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage individual caseload whilst meeting service and young people’s needs.
- Demonstrated ability to recognise other needs that WMQ can assist young people with and provide relevant and timely referrals.
Essential Requirements
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy)
- Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy.
- Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work
