City and Environment Directorate are seeking a qualified and experienced professional to fill the position of Executive Branch Manager, ACT Parks and Conservation Service (PCS) for a period of up to five years.

The Executive Branch Manager, ACT Parks and Conservation Service is responsible for providing executive leadership and management of PCS as the ACT’s largest land custodian.

PCS comprises a diverse range of land management professionals that focus on partnering with the community to deliver best practice land management and nature conservation services. The role is diverse and requires an experienced executive that can manage an operational focused agency with significant diversity in functions and roles. These include parks and reserves planning, parks and reserves management and operations, cultural engagement, offsets management, bushfire risk reduction operations, program delivery, visitor services, volunteerism, forestry and incident management.

As an Executive, you will be required to lead with conviction to set a strategic direction for PCS whilst ensuring the day-to-day roles and functions are delivered. Working closely with the PCS senior leadership team and other leaders in the Setting, Heritage and Parks Group, you will drive to ensure PCS remains highly effective land manager that achieves the objectives of the Nature Conservation Act 2014.

The successful candidate will require proven executive leadership skills and a proven ability to inspire and motivate a workforce comprised of academic, technical, operational, and general service staff.



The successful candidate will require high order interpersonal and relationship building skills noting the frequent engagement of the role with other parts of government, the community, and volunteer organisations. Experience in dealing with an extensive range of policy, research, financial management, people management, government, academia, the wider community and business is essential.

You will support the Executive Group Manager, Environment Heritage and Parks to deliver integrated conservation and land management solutions that seek to protect, conserve and enhance the ACT’s natural environment.

Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $288,060 - $254,964 depending on the current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $298,258.

Contract: The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance-based long-term contract for a period of up to five years. Prospective applicants should be aware that long-term engagements are tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
