In this Role, you’ll
Become a Road Safety Hero held in high esteem in our communities, vital to the safety of kids, parents, teachers and local motorists. You’ll grow to be a much‑loved familiar face around the school with a unique opportunity to touch the lives of countless families.
This is a casual position that provides relief at sites in the Newcastle Local Government Area. Shifts may be between school zone hours 8:00‑9:30 AM and 2:30‑4:00 PM, with a minimum of one hour shift as and when required Monday to Friday during the school term.
You will receive an hourly rate along with superannuation.
About You
- You are a community‑minded person willing to contribute.
- You would get a kick out of building community relationships, keeping kids safe while earning a weekly wage for doing something you love and enjoy.
- You are reliable and prepared to show up for your community – in positive or bad weather.
- You will display effective communication skills and be alert to potential dangers.
Qualifications and requirements
- Applicants must be 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
- All training, uniforms and equipment will be provided.
- Willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check, Reference Check, Police Check,
and a Health Assessment is vital. We will help you through the process.

This is an in‑person, on‑site role.
Recruitment Timeline
- Review of applications and contact with shortlisted candidates by the week commencing 27 th November 2025 for a quick 5‑10 min phone interview.
- Follow‑up panel interviews.
- Successful candidates progress to pre‑employment checks stage.
Applications close 11:59 pm on Wednesday 26 th November 2025.
Applicants who successfully pass the interview may be considered for a permanent part‑time position, should a vacancy arise. A Talent Pool may be created over the next 18‑month period for current and future casual and permanent part‑time positions.
