Holy Spirit College is a Catholic co‑educational secondary school located in the rapidly developing suburb of Fitzgibbon in North Brisbane, approximately 15 km from Brisbane CBD. The College opened in January 2022 with 96 Year 7 students and will increase by one cohort annually until we reach Year 12. The College is master‑planned for 1080 students.

As a team, we are looking forward to developing the learning and teaching opportunities that will engage our students and build our teaching tools to deliver a dynamic and progressive curriculum. The Role

We are looking for a number of Instrumental Tutors to come and join our growing Music Department and provide 1:1 and small‑group tuition to students with the possibility of ensembles.

Areas may include:

- Brass and Woodwind Tutor
- Percussion Tutor
- Orchestral Strings Tutor
- Vocal Tutor

Location: Holy Spirit College, Fitzgibbon

Work Hours: Approximately half a day to start with – room to grow the program though; billed to students by session

Salary: Lessons will be billed directly to the families at a rate of $40 per 30‑minute individual lesson and $29 per student per 30‑minute group lesson. Ensemble rehearsals and all school functions will be paid by the school.

Status: Term time

Key Responsibilities

- Provide individual and small group tuition




- Deliver engaging and inspiring music tuition to students
- Collaborate with other music staff on College events, concerts and recitals
- Prepare students for performances, events, AMEB examinations, and ensemble participation
- Direct or assist with bands and ensembles
- Inspire excellence and engagement through creative, high‑quality teaching and performance opportunities
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and fun learning environment that encourages students of all abilities to thrive
- Maintain accurate student progress records and provide regular feedback back to students and parents
- Communicate with families for billing purposes, lesson alterations, updates on progress etc.

About you

- Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments
- Proficiency in planning and delivering engaging lessons
- Ability to read and write music notation
- Demonstrated experience in teaching music to children of different ages
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Contributing to and developing engaging lesson plans and activities
- Patience and adaptability to be able to work with students of varying skill levels and learning styles
- Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) experience
- For this position are not required to be Catholic.

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements

- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement
