As a Detention Youth Worker, you will be responsible for making sure young people are kept safe and well while they are in detention. You will be someone who:
- encourages young people to make valuable decisions by promoting and reinforcing positive behaviour to help them integrate back into the community.
- helps young people understand and follow the rules of the centre.
- can deliver activities that are sensitive to gender, cultural beliefs, and health needs.
- provides a safe space for a young person to talk to if they need someone to talk to.
- checks on young people regularly through the day and night and makes sure they are okay.
