The role of the Housekeeper is to work within the Domestic and Laundry departments as and when required while also working within the Christian ethos of Lawnfield House.
Responsibilities
- To clean and tidy toilets and bathrooms.
- To clean and tidy bedrooms and make beds as required.
- To clean and tidy corridors and sitting rooms.
- To clean and tidy offices, treatment rooms etc.
- To follow procedures for the appropriate disposal of waste.
- To use all equipment according to appropriate instructions.
- To maintain dignity, respect and confidentiality as required.
- To support care staff in meeting the needs of the residents.
- To respect the personal needs and wishes of the residents at all time.
- To follow appropriate health and safety procedures.
- To maintain written records as required.
- To wash, iron, itemise and distribute residents’ clothes.
- To wash and iron all household laundry e.g. sheets, pillowcases, napkins etc.
- Minor sewing repairs.
- Ensure that all appliances are kept in positive order and free from abuse,
in compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
- To carry out any other reasonable duty such as Cleaning Duties as required by the management of the Home, which is necessary for the support and well-being of the residents.
Skills and Qualifications
- Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people or those with a learning disability.
- Awareness of health and safety practices within a working and residential environment.
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet the requirements of the Home.
- Willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.
