Joining us provides an opportunity to work in a highly regarded and rapidly expanding business as a key new member of a proactive team, focused on promoting the Welding Solutions brand, further improving process efficiency and focused on constantly trying to do all things better through continuous improvement.
Our Production Manager - Truck Body Builder has a pivotal role in our business, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of our production and manufacturing workshop, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety at every step. You’ll lead a team and drive continuous improvement and collaborate closely with team to deliver on production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of truck body builders, welders, and assembly teams.
Plan and allocate resources to meet production schedules and output targets.
Provide training, coaching, and performance management to staff.
Production Oversight
- Ensure truck bodies are fabricated and assembled according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements.
- Maintain high standards of quality control and compliance with industry regulations.
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce workplace health and safety policies.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with vehicle safety standards and company procedures.
- Continuous Improvement
- Drive lean manufacturing practices and efficiency initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to optimize production methods.
- Implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
- Reporting & Communication
- Prepare production reports, KPIs, and performance metrics for senior management.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively across teams to align goals and resolve issues.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in truck body building, automotive manufacturing, or heavy vehicle production.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of fabrication, welding, and assembly processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and production schedules.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, quality assurance, and safety standards.
- Trade qualification or degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related field (preferred)
Work Workplace
- Workshop/factory-based role with exposure to machinery, noise, and heavy materials.
- Fast-paced production environment with structured shifts and deadlines.
- Requires use of PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols.
