As a vital part of our Security and Patient Services department team, you’ll be in a frontline position for patients, staff and visitors - delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring patients and carers have access to exceptional healthcare. From transporting patients to assisting nursing staff in the delivery of quality patient care your skills and empathy will shape the first impression of our Health Service.

This dynamic position involves more than just transferring patients - it’s a chance to thrive in a fast‑paced frontline environment where your multi‑tasking and communication skills will be utilised. You will carry out numerous duties, be proactive, work as part of a team, maintain confidentiality and privacy as well as contributing to improving our health service. Join us and help drive excellence in healthcare delivery. This role involves working a 24/7 rotating roster comprising of mornings, afternoons and night shifts.

What You’ll Be Doing

The Wardsperson role is required to provide safe and efficient transport of patients throughout the hospital Health services to wards, medical appointments in accordance with relevant policies and procedures; ensure hygienic and efficient cleaning standards are in‑line with infection prevention policy and procedures; assist the Department Manager in the efficient and effective operation of the Central Ward Orderly Service.

Other duties includes: provide transport of patient related equipment throughout the hospital; transfer, admission,



viewing and discharge of the decease to or at the Mortuary and other locations within the Hospital in accordance with the relevant Policy and Procedure; attend Emergency Calls in accordance with the relevant Policy and Procedure. E.G. MET Call Assist, Stroke codes‑trauma calls, Obstetrics Code Red and Yellow, Aggressive Patient Emergencies include Code 7 MHU, Helicopter Landings and Fire Alarms and provide clinical support including assisting the Nursing Staff with Patient Care according to the relevant Policy and Procedure.
