The opportunity
As a newly created position within the structure, the Development Services team are seeking a Planning Officer to provide effective support to the Development Planning team regarding development assessment administrative functions.
Our Development Planning team pride themselves on their high standard of service to the community and their State recognised performance results.
Your role within the team will be to liaise with our internal and external customers and stakeholders, providing planning advice and information where required. You will assist with the assessment of subdivision certificates, dwelling entitlement applications and liquor licence applications, as well as the assessment of low-risk development applications.
With your knowledge and expertise in Development Planning, you will work alongside the Development Planning Coordinator to identify continuous improvement opportunities and support in implementing process improvement projects across the team.
- This is a permanent opportunity – working full-time 35 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement
- Base Salary Range: $73,236 to $86,085 pa based on 35 hours / week + 12% superannuation + $19,364 motor vehicle allowance + $2,464 retention allowance
- You will be working from PSC Administration Building, Raymond Terrace

- Assist with the assessment and approval of development applications in accordance with legislative requirements and Council’s adopted policies
- Liaise with internal and external customers and stakeholders to provide planning advice and information when required
- General planning administrative tasks such as supporting pre-lodgement meetings and assistance with external referrals

- A Diploma in a relevant field and/or extensive proven experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated knowledge of planning and development legislation including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (NSW)
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- The ability to work withing a strong team environment and autonomously where required
