About The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Advanced Clinical Coder to join our team. Your deep knowledge of clinical coding standards, attention to detail, and passion for continuous learning will be key in enhancing the accuracy and quality of our coding processes. If you have strong coding knowledge and enjoy various coding tasks, this is a great chance to share your expertise and support the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex clinical coding with accuracy and compliance
- Engage in training sessions and webinars to improve coding knowledge
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior coders
- Stay updated on coding standards and best practices
What You’ll Be Doing
The advanced level clinical coder is expected to undertake highly complex coding clinical coding and assist the clinical coding team to ensure coding reflects the complexity and accurately describes the hospital casemix. The position is expected to meet the requirements of the SWSLHD Clinical Coder Competency – Advanced Level.

- Current extensive clinical coding experience using ICD-10-AM within a tertiary hospital setting.
- Extensive experience across a broad range of specialties with evidence of meeting KPIs for accuracy & throughput as set within SWSLHD Advanced coder coding competencies.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills with high level attention to detail.
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks and effectively manage time and resources to meet pre-determined targets and deadlines.
- Ability to analyse, abstract, interpret and report information in clinical coding forums.
- Enthusiastic attitude and demonstrated ability to work both independently, within a team and be flexible in a changing work environment.
- Demonstrated skill in the use of computerized PAS and record control systems, 3M Codefinder software, PICQ and a sound knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
