The purpose of this role is to strategically lead and oversee key initiatives within Home Commercial, driving improvements in operational efficiency, model maturity, and compliance.
This involves developing and maintaining robust control frameworks, ensuring stringent adherence to regulatory and contractual obligations, and proactively managing the department's response to internal assurance and oversight requirements.
Risk Accountabilities relevant to your line of defence
The First Line of Defence is accountable for adhering to the A&G; Risk Management Framework and owns the risks, obligations, issues, and incidents within their area of responsibility, including their resolution. The key elements of the first line of defence:
- Accountability: Responsible for ensuring that their activities align with the organisation's risk management framework. First line "Accountable Executives" are accountable for the risks within their business.
- Ownership: Primary owners of risks, obligations, issues, and incidents that arise within their operations.
- Resolution: Responsible for taking action to mitigate risks, address issues, and resolve incidents.

Position Accountabilities
- Lead and provide oversight for the delivery of key strategic initiatives within Home Commercial, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timely execution of key project deliverables.
- Manage the effective and timely delivery of strategic initiatives related to repair cost control frameworks as well as contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Drive Home strategic initiatives aimed at improving model maturity and operational efficiency.
- Own delivery timeframes, provide regular progress updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement frameworks and strategies, to improve processes and procedures.
- Maintain robust oversight of contractual and regulatory adherence across the Home Claims Commercial department and its suppliers.
- Manage and coordinate timely and effective departmental responses to requests from internal audit,
and internal risk teams.
- Foster strong relationships and effective collaboration and communication with internal stakeholders including managers, leaders, consultants and other relevant departments to ensure alignment, knowledge sharing and optimisation of business outcomes.
- Utilise data analysis tools and techniques to develop and implement performance metrics and reporting mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of existing processes and frameworks and proactively identify gaps and areas for improvement.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance with Insurance regulatory and compliance obligations within Home claims.
- Establish and monitor quality control measures to assess the accuracy, consistency and compliance to claims process and obligations. This will involve reviewing team audit findings, providing feedback to stakeholders on themes and developing action plans to address any identified gaps or areas for improvement.
What experience you’ll bring
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage compliance frameworks and policies.
- Experience in a compliance, risk, or strategic project management role within the general insurance industry, preferably residential insurance.
- Demonstrated understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to the Australian insurance sector. 3-5 years of experience in managing audit processes, control testing, and responding to regulatory inquiries.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify gaps, assess risks, and develop practical solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in leading or overseeing strategic initiatives and driving project delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
- A track record of driving performance through accountability and a results‑oriented approach.
- Tertiary and ideally postgraduate qualifications preferred.
