Glen Innes Public School is seeking a dedicated Assistant Principal Learning and Support to play a vital role across the Northern Tablelands Principal Network. This network includes 12 primary schools, 2 high schools, and 3 central schools, serving approximately 2,000 students, with 27% identifying as Aboriginal. Our diverse student community reflects a rich mix of cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds.

The Assistant Principal Learning and Support will provide timely and expert assistance to teachers, ensuring all students with additional learning and support needs receive the personalised attention necessary to thrive. This role is integral to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment across the network.

The Disability Standards for Education 2005 provides the context for the role and activities of the Learning and Support Teacher.

The role is underpinned by a collaborative and consultative approach so that the student and/or their parent, carer are actively involved in the student's education.

Specific Selection Criteria

- Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (primary and secondary)



and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (primary and secondary) in regular classes.
- Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers.
- Demonstrated ability to provide specialist advice and professional support to learning and support teachers, and to develop and successfully implement and review adjusted educational programs for students with additional learning and support needs.
- Ability to provide professional support, advice and assistance to schools across the Northern Tablelands Network area, through the delivery of skilled learning and the coordination of delivery support to meet the needs of students in both mainstream and support classes.

General Selection Criteria

- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
