The Shed Café Belrose is committed to providing high-quality dining experiences and fostering a positive, inclusive workplace for its team. As the business continues to grow, it is seeking a qualified and skilled Chef to join its kitchen team.
The Chef will play a vital role in the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring the preparation and delivery of high-quality dishes. This role requires robust culinary expertise, the ability to manage kitchen operations, and a focus on consistency, food safety, and teamwork.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality dishes according to established standards
- Overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations to ensure efficiency and smooth service
- Monitoring food quality, freshness,
and portion control across all menu items
- Managing kitchen staff, including scheduling, delegating tasks, and providing training
- Ensuring all food safety and hygiene standards are consistently met
- Coordinating daily preparation tasks, including mise en place, sauces, marinades, and other house-made components
- Managing stock levels, monitoring inventory, and placing orders with suppliers
- Maintaining cleanliness, organisation, and proper equipment handling within the kitchen
- Collaborating with management on seasonal updates and special offerings
- Catering to guest dietary needs and special requests where required
Salary: $75,000 - $78,000
Skills & Experience Required
To be considered for this role, applicants should have:
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen
- Strong understanding of food safety, kitchen operations, and quality control
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards
- Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skill
