Are you passionate about culinary excellence and eager to take the next step in your professional kitchen career? We are seeking a highly motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic and growing team at Spread Eagle Hotel, located in the heart of Richmond.

Our kitchen prides itself on producing everything in-house, maintaining high quality standards, and fostering a positive team culture. We are looking for a skilled Sous Chef who can support our Head Chef and help deliver exceptional dining experiences.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head Chef, you will play a key role in daily kitchen operations, food preparation, and maintaining high culinary standards. This is a full-time permanent position (38 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in daily food preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes
- Support the Head Chef in coordinating kitchen operations
- Produce consistent, well-presented plates in accordance with recipes and standards
- Maintain high levels of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP procedures
- Help supervise, train, and guide junior kitchen staff
- Work efficiently to meet service times and production targets
- Support menu changes, specials, and recipe development
- Support strong teamwork between kitchen and front-of-house staff




- Report equipment issues or maintenance needs to management
- Perform any other duties as required by the Head Chef

Requirements (Must Haves)

- 2–3 years of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen
- Strong culinary skills and a passion for producing high-standard meals
- Ability to work efficiently in a team and show respect to co-workers
- Valuable problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Understanding of safe food handling and kitchen hygiene procedures
- Availability to work weekdays and weekends (day shifts or as rostered)
- Qualification in Commercial Cookery (Cert III/IV or equivalent) preferred
- Reliable, professional, and motivated attitude

Work Schedule
