Position Summary
The Waitress/Server is the primary point of contact between the guest and the kitchen/bar. This role is responsible for providing exceptional table-side service, accurately taking and delivering food and beverage orders, and ensuring a positive and memorable dining experience for every guest.
Key Responsibilities1. Guest Service and Hospitality
- Greeting and Seating: Warmly welcome guests, assist with seating if needed, and promptly present menus and inform them of daily specials.
- Order Taking: Accurately take food and drink orders, inputting them correctly into the Point of Sale (POS) system, and communicating any special requests or dietary restrictions to the kitchen staff.
- Menu Knowledge: Maintain thorough knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, wine list, and daily specials to confidently answer guest questions and provide thoughtful recommendations.
- Table Service: Deliver food and beverages promptly and accurately to the correct tables and guests, checking back to ensure guest satisfaction.
2. Dining Room Operations
- Table Maintenance: Manage the flow of the table throughout the meal—clearing plates, replacing cutlery, refilling water glasses, and ensuring a tidy dining setting.
- Coordination:
Effectively communicate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure orders are prepared and delivered in a timely manner.
- Side Work: Complete assigned side duties during and at the close of service, including restocking server stations, polishing silverware, folding napkins, and cleaning menus.
3. Financial and Compliance Duties
- Billing and Payment: Prepare accurate guest checks, process various forms of payment (cash, credit card, gift vouchers), and correctly manage the change fund.
- Closing Procedures: Accurately reconcile sales reports and close out assigned tables and cash/credit card transactions at the end of the shift.
- Compliance: Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards, as well as liquor laws regarding the responsible service of alcohol (e.g., checking IDs).
4. Professionalism and Teamwork
- Attire and Presentation: Maintain a professional and tidy personal appearance as required by restaurant standards.
- Communication: Communicate clearly and positively with guests, managers, and coworkers to maintain a cohesive and productive team environment.
- Flexibility: Be willing to assist teammates with running food, bussing tables, and other tasks to ensure overall restaurant success.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 per week
