Executive Assistant to the General Manager Infrastructure & Operations

Maximum Term Contract Full Time - 36.25 hours per week - until June 2027

$87,215.63 to $93,447.88 Annually + up to 13% super

Join our team as a Executive Assistant to the General Manager Infrastructure and Operations

Step into a pivotal executive support role where no two days are the same. As Executive Assistant to the General Manager Infrastructure and Operations, you will provide high-level executive, administrative and operational support that enables the GM to lead a large, multi-disciplinary department and keep critical Council priorities moving. This is a fast‑paced, high‑visibility role that requires exceptional attention to detail, strong judgement, and the ability to manage a complex workload with confidence, discretion, and precision.

Who you’ll be supporting

Chris Isles – General Manager, Infrastructure & Operations

You’ll work alongside Chris Isles, a respected senior executive known for his commercially minded, data‑driven and future‑focused leadership style. With more than 20 years’ experience across planning, development and local government, Chris brings deep technical and strategic expertise to the organisation. His background includes leading multidisciplinary consultant teams, driving major planning and development projects and championing innovation in asset, data and infrastructure management. Recognised nationally for his work, including Australian Planner of the Year and Smart Cities Industry Leader, Chris is highly regarded for his strategic thinking, collaborative leadership and commitment to delivering high‑quality outcomes for the community.

About the Infrastructure & Operations Department

The Infrastructure and Operations Department is one of Council’s largest and most diverse divisions, made up of more than 500 employees across five key groups: City Assets, City Operations, City Water, Project Delivery and Major Projects. The department plays a critical role in planning, delivering, maintaining and operating the city’s assets, infrastructure and essential services. This is a dynamic, high‑impact environment where strong systems,



efficient processes and transparent communication are essential to success.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing high‑level executive support to the GM, including proactive diary, inbox and correspondence management
- Preparing agendas, minutes, briefing notes and reports for Executive Leadership and Councillor meetings
- Acting as the first point of contact in the GM’s absence and managing enquiries with professionalism
- Coordinating departmental reporting, including KPIs, scorecards, compliance updates and Council resolution tracking
- Supporting strategic planning and decision‑making through research, data analysis and legislation/benchmark reviews
- Identifying and implementing improvements to administrative and operational processes
- Managing meetings, corporate records and GM‑led events such as workshops, BBQs and team activities
- Providing financial and budget support, including monitoring budgets, processing claims and managing training and conference bookings

Skills and experience:

- Proven experience supporting senior executives in a fast‑paced, complex environment
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare high‑quality correspondence and reports
- Strong judgement and discretion when managing confidential and sensitive matters
- Exceptional time management and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Well‑developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills and confidence using financial systems, reporting tools and new technologies
- Ability to analyse information, undertake research and prepare clear recommendations
- A continuous‑improvement mindset, focused on enhancing processes and service delivery
