Details: Join the team in Children, Youth and Families this Christmas and New Year, and make a difference for families in the ACT.
Children, Youth and Families are looking for temporary staff from December to assist in covering the holiday period through to March 2026.
This opportunity is open to anyone in the ACT Government. You could be the right fit if you have and case management experience and qualifications in any of the following:
- Social Work
- Psychology
- Social Science
Roles are available at Child and Youth Protection Skilled (CYPP) Level two, CYPP Level three and CYPP Level four. You will be considered for roles at level or for higher duties, dependant on your experience.
In these roles you will support CYF staff in operational and administration work. This could include home visits with experienced staff to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and families over the holiday period. These roles are available for three to six months and requests for flexible hours will be considered. These roles are office-based at 220 London Circuit.
Eligibility/Other requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Welfare, Social Science or related discipline. Please note:
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who do not have these qualifications but who have appropriate and relevant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage and experience are eligible to apply. For Youth Justice positions, relevant qualifications in Criminology or law may be considered.
- Practical experience working with children, youth and/or families in a social work/case management role, and/or experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities. - CYPP level will depend on years of this experience
- As this role is likely to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and young people, cultural awareness, and capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is highly desirable.
- Driver’s license (C class) is essential.
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration (act.gov.au)
- Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.

This is a temporary position available from December 2025 until March 2026 with the possibility of extension up to six months. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.

A merit pool may be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
