About the role
The lifestyle/wellbeing role is responsible for driving the engagement and participation of residents in a range of social, recreational, and cultural activities, as well as mental health and wellbeing programs that empower our residents’ choices and independence. In planning and organising all recreational activity programs, you will ensure individual residents’ needs, values, spiritual and cultural preferences are taken into account.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Conducts resident assessments either as directed by the Facility Manager or the lifestyle coordinator.
- To plan and implement activity programs through assessment and consultation, and ensure that they continue to meet the identified needs of the residents.
- Carry out duties according to the daily lifestyle and recreational activities program schedule and residents’ person-centered care plans.
- Assist with providing direct care and interventions e.g. eating enablement, emotional support, or specific activities designed to support residents with dementia.
- Supervise volunteers assisting in the program when necessary.
- Assist in organising and conducting residents/carers meetings as required.
- Liaise and network with all appropriate community or church groups to facilitate community or religious activities for residents.
- Provide inputs and feedback to the Facility Manager about suggested changes to meet residents’ needs.
- Complete documentation as appropriate.
- Participates in the development and evaluation of care plans to improve residents’ care in consultation with residents and their representatives.
- Ensure all activities of the Program are conducted in accordance with ANHF Policies and Procedures.
- Participate actively in all ANHF Quality Assurance activities.
Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidates should possess but not be limited to the following:
Essential:
- Holds a Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or higher.
- National Police Clearance.
- Current valid first aid and CPR certificate.
- Validated work rights in Australia
- Evidence of good team building, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Positive command of English and Chinese communication skills
- Demonstrated report writing skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of WHS, EEO and anti-discrimination legislative requirements.
Desirable:
- Experience in residential aged care.
- Can communicate in both Cantonese and Mandarin.
- Completed medication competency.
- Experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse populations.
- Understanding of, and/or experience in the Aged Care Accreditation Standards.
- Current driving license.
