Mixers Australia is the country’s leading Australian-owned transit mixer manufacturer, producing some of the most reliable and advanced concrete mixers in the market. With national growth and an expanding production footprint, we are seeking a high-performance Operations Manager to strengthen day-to-day operations, support the Team Leaders, and work closely with the GM to drive efficiency, structure and quality across the business.
THE ROLE
The Operations Manager is responsible for the operational execution and workflow of the factory.
You will support and develop the Team Leaders, drive discipline in daily operations, and work with
the GM to plan, prioritise and deliver the production strategy. Your mandate: Lift standards, improve
systems, build structure, and ensure operations run with consistency and accountability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Support
- Support, mentor and guide Team Leaders across fabrication, assembly, paint and QA.
- Provide daily operational direction, escalation support and problem-solving.
- Work closely with the GM to align operational priorities, resources and scheduling.
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day production operations end-to-end.
- Ensure disciplined workflow sequencing across all builds and rebuilds.
- Maintain coordination between all workshop areas.
Improve Systems & Processes
- Strengthen SOPs, work instructions and operational systems.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement practical process improvements.
- Introduce structure, consistency and lean thinking across the factory.
Planning & Scheduling
- Build and manage weekly and monthly production schedules.
- Coordinate with procurement and engineering on stock, design updates and forecasting.
- Ensure labour allocation aligns with the workload and customer deadlines.
Performance & Reporting
- Track KPIs: throughput, labour efficiency, rework, takt times, WIP and DIFOT.
- Support the GM with operations reporting, planning and performance reviews.
- Drive accountability and follow-up with Team Leaders.
Quality & Compliance
- Oversee QC from fabrication through to final inspection.
- Ensure WHS, SOPs and compliance requirements are met at all times.
- Lead continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
Supply Chain & Inventory
- Coordinate purchasing and supplier relationships.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and parts availability.
- Drive discipline and cost control in stock management.
People & Culture
- Help Team Leaders manage their teams effectively.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management.
- Promote a high-standard, high-accountability workshop culture.
ABOUT YOU
- Experience in operations, production, workshop coordination or similar.
- Background in manufacturing, fabrication, or engineered/heavy-vehicle products is ideal.
- Confident communicator and natural leader who can support Team Leaders.
- Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving abilities.
- Systems and process improvement mindset — someone who builds structure, not chaos.
- Mechanically minded with attention to quality and consistency.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, growing environment.
ABOUT YOU
Experience in operations, production, workshop coordination or similar.
Background in manufacturing, fabrication, or engineered/heavy-vehicle products is ideal.
