The Role
The Senior Refinery Accountant has responsibility for day-to-day financial and management accounting operations.
This is a Permanent Full-time position based at our Kwinana Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Refinery month end reporting process including calculation, preparation and posting of journals (accruals, inventory valuations, allocations, provisions).
- Collaborate in the coordination and management the budget and 2-year plan process.
- Investigate variances, conduct appropriate analysis, and prepare meaningful commentary in support of the month end and planning (budget, forecast and 2-year plan) submissions.
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review and processing of inventory valuations.
- Preparation of specific financial and cost information for the Refinery.
- Ensure appropriate classification and treatment of capital expenditure and fixed assets.
- Provide support to the Financial Accounting function in the review of Covalent’s positions on key technical accounting issues (e.g. leases), during financial audits and in the completion of statutory submissions.
- Prepare documentation of Covalent’s accounting processes for the Refinery.
- Identify and implement systems, procedures and tools to best run the management accounting function for the Refinery.
Role Requirements
- CA/CPA qualified.
- Bachelor of Commerce degree (Majoring in Accounting and/or Finance).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
- Previous experience in industrial, chemical or manufacturing preferred. Experience in resources and mining will be highly regarded.
- Previous experience in using SAP preferred.
