Overview of job
We’re looking for an organized and driven Accountant to join our team. The accountant will work closely with other accountants and support staff to handle a full range of tax compliance services to various businesses, covering income tax, GST, and SMSF. This position will provide an excellent opportunity for career development to an individual who demonstrates drive and initiative toward personal and professional growth.
Job responsibilities will include:
- Maintain general ledgers, including reconciliation and substantiation of monthly balance sheets
- Prepare financial statements and reports including balance sheet, profit and loss, asset, liability, capital account entries, and internal management by compiling and analysing account information
- Prepare Taxation Returns, Payroll Tax and BAS, annual FBT and taxable payment reporting to the ATO, and special purpose financial reports for various entities, but particularly companies, self-managed superannuation funds, trusts, and sole traders
- Act as a liaison with the Australian Tax Office, navigating audits and compliance matters
- Service a diverse client base, engaging in meetings and resolving issues with finesse
- Provide support to our Group Manager and contribute to operational activities with versatility
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience in an Australian accounting firm
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Familiarity with tax compliance and accounting software such as MYOB, XERO, or QuickBooks
- Stellar communication skills and a collaborative spirit
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and problem-solve independently
- Meticulous attention to detail and a penchant for timely execution
