Parks and Gardens Facility Officer

Temporary (3 months)

Part Time (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

Location – Cannonvale

$33.63 per hour + penalty weekend rates

The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville. The Whitsunday region offers a dynamic setting and is perfectly placed to live, work, play and invest.

Your opportunity:

The Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking a dedicated Parks and Gardens Facility Officer to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and presentation of public spaces across council-managed areas. Working Friday to Sunday, you will play a vital role in ensuring that amenities such as BBQs, footpaths, gardens, and public facilities remain clean, functional, and inviting for community use.

Key Responsibilities:

- Clean and maintain public BBQs and picnic areas
- Clean public toilets to hygiene and safety standards
- Empty and replace full waste bins across designated zones
- Perform litter collection and general waste removal
- Conduct basic garden maintenance including weeding, pruning, and tidying




- Clean footpaths and surrounding public spaces
- Refill dog bag dispensers and check vinegar bottles as required
- Identify and report damages, hazards, or maintenance issues to the Facilities Supervisor
- Assist members of the public in a courteous and helpful manner
- Support the WRC Events Team when required

Your skills and experience:

Essential

1. Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
2. Sufficient level of physical fitness to perform manual outdoor tasks
3. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
4. Good communication skills for interacting with the public and reporting issues
5. Basic literacy and numeracy for completing timesheets, checklists, and incident reports
6. Commitment to safe work practices and following procedures
