Primary Teacher (1.0 FTE – Term 1, Long Service Leave Cover)

Southern Hills Christian College is a K–12 Christian school located in Bedfordale, Western Australia, and part of the Swan Christian Education Association (SCEA). We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Primary Teacher to join our school for a full-time Term 1 Long Service Leave cover. For the right candidate, there is potential for an ongoing leadership opportunity.
Our Primary School is grounded in strong literacy and numeracy instruction, complemented by inquiry learning, outdoor education, and a commitment to nurturing the whole child; mind, body, and spirit.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Teach primary-aged students with excellence, care, and a Christ-centred approach
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons aligned with the Australian Curriculum and a Christian worldview
- Cultivate a safe, calm, inclusive, and joy-filled classroom setting
- Build positive, professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Collaborate closely with the teaching team to support student growth and wellbeing
- Contribute actively to school life and uphold SCEA’s Christian ethos
- Engage with evidence-based practices and maintain high professional standards
- Undertake extra duties as required, including playground duty, relief cover, parent meetings, College events, and staff meetings
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- A personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and active involvement in a Christian church
- Acceptance of SCEA’s Statement of Faith, Foundational Beliefs, and Educational Objectives, with a lifestyle consistent with these statements
- Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Teacher Registration Board of WA (TRBWA)
- Knowledge of the Australian Curriculum
- Ability to nurture a calm, inclusive classroom culture
- Strong organisation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to uphold and contribute to the Christian life of the College
Desirable:

- Experience teaching Primary year levels
- Ability to differentiate to meet diverse learning needs
- Confidence using digital technologies and integrating them into learning
- Experience with inquiry-based learning or outdoor education
