Cloud Engineer and Software Developer
Join ACESGroup as a Cloud Engineer and Software Developer supporting the secure, scalable, and high-performing infrastructure behind our software solutions.
- Manage cloud infrastructure, security, and deployment pipelines
- Develop and maintain backend systems, internal software applications and APIs
- Drive automation, performance, and system reliability
ACESGroup is seeking a motivated a Cloud Engineer to join our growing technology team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and optimising AWS-hosted systems, managing software deployments, supporting backend development, and developing applications that optimise operations and service delivery. You’ll work closely with the Tech Lead to create stable, and scalable environments for business applications, whilst utilising your development skills to build creative software.
Please note: This role is office-based, with the option for one Work From Home day after the first 6 months of employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain AWS environments, deployments, and infrastructure
- Implement and monitor security, access controls, and permissions management
- Develop and maintain backend systems, APIs, and integrations
- Support database architecture, schema design, and data storage optimisation
- Automate system processes and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines
- Collaborate with developers to ensure reliability, scalability, and best practice standards
- Design, development and maintenance of frontend (web) and backend applications
- Design of user interactions to ensure cross-platform compatibility and mobile responsiveness
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving system and deployment issues
About You
- 2 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer and Software Developer
- Strong interest in secure cloud infrastructure and automation
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organisational habits
- Effective communicator with a collaborative approach to teamwork
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with fundamental languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Proficiency with JavaScript frameworks such as React, React Router, React Redux and Node.js
- Deep knowledge of AWS security concepts, permission models, and role-based access control.
- Solid knowledge of AWS services such as SNS, SQS, Amplify Hosting, S3, CloudWatch, and AWS Lambda.
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations
- Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB
- Understanding of logging, monitoring, and alerting (CloudWatch, ELK, or similar).
- Strong backend development skills using Python and related languages.
