**About the Role**
- This role will have insights across the whole Telstra claims portfolio, including complex claims, eligibility decisions and reconsiderations. This is a key role in maintaining Telstra’s Comcare self-insurance license. This position provides Workers' Compensation advice and assistance to senior managers in Telstra’s BUs and is responsible for building relationships and providing leadership and guidance with a broad range of stakeholders across employees, line of business, union, medical practitioners and Comcare.

**What You’ll Do**
- Develop, lead and grow an established workers’ compensation team to deliver exceptional service.
- Manage the team’s performance, productivity, capability and talent.
- Oversee and the end-to-end claims management practices of the team to ensure its correct and aligned to Telstra’s obligations under the SRC Act
- Partner with the BUs to ensure consistent and robust solutions are delivered with fair and equitable outcomes for employees and Telstra, in line with our Values and the SRC Act
- Ensure best practice and proactive case management to reduce the human and financial costs
- Meet or exceed all license key performance indicators (LKPIs) as set by Comcare
- Develop system documentation to meet compliance obligations of Telstra’s W/Comp self-insurance license.
- Provide W/Comp advice and monitor and report progress against W/Comp targets and performance indicators
- Develop an understanding of BU operations and key operational periods (e.g. financial year end reporting)
- Reduce the human and financial costs of claims by ensuring the team proactively manage their claims and achieve safe and sustainable outcomes
The measurable deliverables and outcomes of this role:
- Proactive and strategic management of all workers’ compensation claims in line with the SRC Act, Telstra values, and best practice case management principles to deliver safe and sustainable outcomes for our people and the business.
- Ensure that our Injured workers are dealt with respectfully and in line with our Behaviors and Habits
- Complaints are resolved efficiently and compassionately
- Recognised as a business partner and trusted advisor by Telstra’s Business Units (BUs).
- Strong relationships with the wider SSW team and provide guidance on workers’ compensation to the BUs and wider SSW team.
- Develops strong partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, associations and legal
**About You**
You will bring the following skills and experiences to be successful in the role:
Essential:
- Solid experience in managing a team in a large, complex organization,
- Experience in a senior workers compensation role.
- Experience in developing and executing annual plans
- Experience in partnering and influencing senior stakeholders - internal and external.
- Broad knowledge of commercial, technical and legal W/Comp issues.
- Demonstrated ability to perform in high-pressure, deadline critical situations.
- Key stakeholder management.
- Experience in dealing with complex W/Comp issues.
- Experienced in working in a proactive early response workplace
Highly desirable qualification(s):
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, HR, business, H&S; or other relevant discipline
- Formal qualifications in allied health (e.g. degree, post graduate studies or significant equivalent experience)
- Previous experience in self-insurance in Commonwealth
