Dinko Tuna Farmers Pty Ltd is a long-established, family-owned seafood company based in Port Lincoln. We operate tuna farming, wild catch, processing and distribution, supplying premium seafood across Australia and overseas. We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Deckhand who can also assist with net mending and factory processing as required.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys physical work, variety in their day, and working both on the water and on land.
Key Responsibilities On the Water (Tuna)
- Assist with daily operations on board vessels, including feeding Southern Bluefin Tuna.
- Participate in fishing trips during wild catch seasons.
- Handle ropes, lines, equipment and general deck duties.
- Assist with towing operations, diving support and gear handling.
- Follow all maritime and company safety procedures.
Net Mending
- Assist with repair and maintenance of tuna nets.
- Identify and repair damaged meshes, ropes and stitching.
- Maintain net-mending area and tools.
- Support skippers and supervisors with net preparation for upcoming operations.
Factory Work (Seafood Processing)
- Assist in processing sardines, prawns and tuna as required.
- Operate basic factory equipment (training provided).
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and adhere to hygiene and food-safety standards.
- Support loading/unloading, ice production and general labouring tasks.
About You
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual labour.
- Able to work on vessels in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions.
- A team player with a positive attitude.
- Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends when required.
Essential Requirements
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test.
- Ability to work at sea.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Australian work rights.
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience working on commercial fishing vessels.
- Previous net mending or factory experience.
- Coxswain or relevant marine certificates.
- Forklift licence.
