Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital To assist other members of the Food Services Department in providing high quality product and service to all customers, ie patients, caregivers and others. This position is varied over several different shifts. Responsibilities include efficient delivery of service, clearing and assisting with the plating of meals and cleaning of all areas associated with Food Services Department. Commitment to quality and productivity is expected. The Position Actively participates in the implementation of a safe food environment Carries out protected food handling techniques in relation to purchasing, receiving, storage, preparation and delivery. To always ensure a high standard of personal hygiene while working in the kitchen. To report in the first instance to the Team Leader in the matters concerning attendance, grievances, difficulties etc. To work with all caregivers in maintaining cleanliness of working areas and other areas associated with Food Services in conjunction with the Food Safety Plan. To conduct him / herself in a courteous and proper manner whilst performing duties or accepting instructions. Adheres to Infection Management Manual Policy and Procedures. Maintain Universal Blood and Body Substances (BABS) Precautions at all times. Compliance with Food Act 1984 and any amendments. Is aware of the caregiver vaccination program and immunisation recommendations. Identifies infection risks, informs Support Services Manager and participates in initiating appropriate action. Infection Control - Responsibility to inform Team Leader/Supervisor or Hotel Service Manager of any food borne illness. Ensure appropriate,
cost-effective use of consumables and equipment. You will have experience in food preparation and be able to deliver exceptional customer service. You will have excellent communication skills, both oral and written and the ability to work as a team member. To succeed you will be able to prioritise a busy and varied workload and work unsupervised.
