Waverley Council is looking for an experienced Regional Environmental Program Officer who will be responsible for day-to-day operations of projects across 3-Council Regional Environmental Program.

The Role

The Regional Environmental Program Officer is a collaboration between Waverley, Woollahra and Randwick Councils’ dedicated to delivering tangible sustainability outcomes for our residents, businesses and communities across the three local government areas.

As the Regional Environmental Program Officer, you will:

- Plan, implement and manage community-based sustainability projects across three LGAs
- Engage and build relationships with local agencies, businesses and residents to drive behaviour change and project outcomes
- Coordinate initiatives targeting energy efficiency, waste reduction and water conservation
- Assist in developing outreach strategies to raise awareness and promote engagement
- Provide expert advice to internal teams and external stakeholders on sustainability best practice and opportunities

The role is responsible for designing, implementing sustainability projects.



Two of the current trial projects you would be responsible for:

- Solar Health Check for residents and businesses

- Stratasphere for strata sustainability

About You

- Tertiary qualification in Renewable Energy, Environment Science, Project Management, or related discipline and / or relevant training and extensive relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience in environmental education, including developing and delivering sustainability engagement and education programs.
- Experience in facilitating workshops and training sessions.
- Proven ability to develop and manage education and communication resources.
- High level communication, organization and project management skills, including event management skills.
- A strong commitment to delivering quality customer service.
- An understanding of and commitment to EEO.
- Knowledge and experience with the strata sector, solar, electric vehicles and energy reduction actions and ability to work out of office hours for meetings is desirable.
